Real-World Design Competition for Students!

PAVE’s 2007 Student Design Competition is sponsored by Sony Electronics Inc. This annual competition, now in its 13th year, is geared toward college-level students involved in retail planning, merchandising, and branding programs.

“Design plays such a key role in Sony Electronics’ businesses. We are excited to sponsor this year’s PAVE competition and challenge the next generation of designers to think creatively about our brand,” says Christine Belich, vice president of visual merchandising for Sony Style and a PAVE board member.

Representatives from Sony’s U.S. design teams including Sony Style retail and the Sony Design Center contributed to the development of the design challenges in partnership with PAVE's Education Chair Eric Feigenbaum of the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising (LIM), New York, and PAVE’s education committee members.

The competition’s design challenges consist of a visual merchandising category and a store design category. The competition provides an excellent opportunity for students to obtain real-life retail design experience. Prizes include grants to students and schools and winning students may even see their designs come to life in a Sony Style retail environment.
