The Planning and Visual Education Partnership (PAVE) presented its 2010 Rising Star Award to Leonard Barszap, LEED AP ID+C, studio design manager of New York-based d-ash design. The award presentation took place during the 14th Annual PAVE Gala, Dec. 8 in New York City.
In keeping with its mission of nurturing and encouraging young talented individuals to ensure the future of the retail design and visual industry, PAVE developed this award to recognize individuals who have demonstrated talent, vision, and implementation in the retail environment.
Barszap was one for three finalists for the 2010 Rising Star. Dale Eramo II, head of visual for Diane von Furstenberg, and Jeff Hernandez, visual merchandiser of 7 For All Mankind, were also recognized. All were at the Gala when 2009 Rising Star winner Travis Burnham of J. Crew presented the 2010 recognition.
Retailers were invited to nominate an individual (under 35 years of age) who works in retail design, visual presentation, or contract design and is a proven innovator and leader among his or her peers. Judging the 2009 Rising Star competition were:
• James Bellante, Group Vice President, Visual Merchandising, Macy’s
• Anne DiNardo, Editor, VMSD
• Nancy Jackson, President, Architectural Systems Inc.
• Brad Somberg, President, B&N Industries |
