Designing Right-Brained Stores in a High-Tech, Socially Networked World
As society grows ever more technological and socially networked, a shift toward a right-brained approach to living, relating and shopping will shape the future of retail. Brazil Goes Retail: Unique Consumers, Unique Challenges
SDP2 (Store Design & Planning Track)
Forecasts are for Brazil's retail sales to increase by over 30% in the next five years, driven by strong economic growth, a rapidly expanding population, and rising disposable incomes. The lifestyles of the Brazilian middle class and upper-income groups increasingly mirror those of their peers in developed countries. The opportunity to tap into this rapidly growing market is attracting retailers of all kinds, from all over the world. But Brazilian consumers and culture are unique. FRCH Design Worldwide will provide an overview of the Brazilian market and offer perspectives on Brazilian consumers from both the retailer's and store designer's point-of-view. What are the key market demographics? How are Brazilian consumers different from their counterparts in North America? How do these differences impact retail strategy and store design and planning? Claudio Miccieli Jr. will be on hand to answer questions from the perspective of his company, leading Brazilian retailer/restaurant chain, Giraffas.

Hey, Who Moved The Front of My Store? Retailing in a cross-channel world?
Shopping has fundamentally changed, as the majority of consumers now begin their shopping process well before they ever walk in a store. With the rapid adoption of new social, local, and mobile technologies, the physical and digital shopping experiences are becoming more integrated than ever before. As the shoppers’ path to purchase becomes more dynamic, shopper marketers must abandon the old channel segmentation paradigm and focus on all the touchpoints that shoppers choose to use. This session will provide an overview of the key trends and technologies that are fueling this revolution, and will look at specific examples of brands and retailers that are winning in a new Cross-Channel World.
