Students and Schools Awarded $22,000 by PAVE
Hollywood, Fla. (Nov 18., 2009)—The Planning and Visual Education Partnership (PAVE) awarded $16,000 in grants to students and $6,000 in school awards based on the winning entries of its 2009 Student Design Competition. Judging took place Nov. 11, 2009, at Macy’s Executive Offices in New York. The competition was geared toward college-level students involved in retail planning, visual merchandising, interior design, and branding programs. PAVE thanks Macy’s, the sponsor of this year’s competition, and all of the judges, educators, and students who participated.

This year’s winners faced a competitive field; 373 entries were submitted, 238 in the overall store design category and 135 in the visual merchandising category.

The design challenges for the 2009 competition challenged students to develop concepts in line with the Macy’s branding, product lines, and retail stores. Macy’s executives developed the design challenges along with PAVE's Education Chair Eric Feigenbaum of the LIM College, New York, and PAVE’s education committee members. The competition’s design challenges consisted of a visual merchandising category focusing on jewelry and a store design category focusing on women’s shoes.
